POSITION TITLE: Speech-Language Pathologist
FLSA: Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must hold proper Virginia state licensure by the Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. Preference that the applicant also holds Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
REPORTS TO: Special Education Director and/or Assistant Superintendent for Support Services
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 200 days
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must be licensed by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. Applicants must possess proper skills in order to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech-language disorders in school-aged children. Additionally, applicants must present with adequate written and oral communication skills; have ability to work effectively with school personnel, students and parents; possess effective leadership skills; and demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based practices in the field of speech-language pathology.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Conduct speech-language screenings for identification of need
Evaluate and diagnose speech-language disorders having an adverse educational impact on student performance
Provide support in the general education environment through Response to Intervention (RTI)
Treat identified speech-language disorders via current evidence-based practices
Data collection and analysis via maintenance of accurate, complete, and correct documentation as required by law, district policy, and/or administrative regulation for caseload management (e.g. Medicaid, Special Education)
Provide training and education to family/caregivers and other professionals
Work collaboratively on interdisciplinary teams that make decisions regarding evaluation, eligibility, and services
Abide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulations
Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
