The Opportunity MVCS is seeking a Principal to serve as the educational, spiritual, and operational leader of the school. Reporting to church leadership and working closely with the administration team, the Principal provides vision, leadership, and oversight for all aspects of the K-8 school, including academic excellence, faculty development, student discipleship, school culture, operational effectiveness, and strategic growth. As a ministry of Mission Viejo Christian Church, the Principal is expected to be an active, engaged member of MVCC and to lead the school in alignment with the church's mission, vision, values, and statement of faith. The Principal cultivates a Christ-centered educational environment that promotes spiritual formation, academic excellence, healthy community, and the development of students, faculty, and families. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Spiritual Leadership & Discipleship Culture Provide spiritual leadership that cultivates a Christ-centered school culture, supports biblical worldview integration, encourages discipleship, and models Christ-like servant leadership. Lead or participate in chapels, staff devotions, prayer gatherings, and spiritual formation opportunities. Foster a culture marked by grace, accountability, encouragement, relational health, and educational excellence. Visionary & Strategic Leadership Provide vision, direction, and leadership for the future growth and development of MVCS. Lead strategic planning initiatives that support educational excellence, operational health, and mission effectiveness. Lead organizational development, innovation, and continuous improvement efforts. Communicate regularly and effectively with the Elder Board and church leadership regarding school health, strategic priorities, enrollment, staffing, finances, accreditation, major initiatives, and organizational needs. Instructional & Academic Leadership Oversee academic programs to ensure excellence in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and student achievement. Support and develop instructional best practices across all grade levels. Conduct classroom observations and provide coaching, evaluation, and professional feedback to faculty. Ensure students are prepared academically, spiritually, socially, and emotionally for future success. Staff Leadership & Team Development Recruit, hire, develop, supervise, evaluate, and when necessary, release faculty and staff members. Build a healthy, collaborative, and mission-aligned staff culture. Lead regular staff meetings, leadership meetings, and development opportunities. Promote strong communication, teamwork, accountability, and unity among faculty and staff. Address conflict with wisdom, grace, clarity, and a biblically restorative approach. Encourage professional growth and ongoing learning among faculty and staff. Family & Community Engagement Build strong relationships with students, parents, and families through visibility, communication, and pastoral care. Communicate regularly and effectively with families to promote trust, clarity, and partnership. Support admissions, enrollment, and retention efforts. Represent MVCS with professionalism, warmth, and Christ-centered leadership within the community. Organizational Leadership & Operations Oversee the daily operations of the school with effectiveness, stewardship, and organizational excellence. Ensure compliance with all legal, safety, accreditation, and operational requirements. Oversee school policies, procedures, handbooks, emergency preparedness, and risk management practices. Partner with church leadership regarding facilities, technology, budgeting, staffing, and long-term planning. Budgeting, Accreditation & Stewardship Develop and oversee the annual school budget in partnership with church and financial leadership. Steward school resources responsibly and strategically. Lead accreditation efforts and continuous school improvement initiatives. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Spiritual & Ministry Qualifications A strong and growing relationship with Jesus Christ evidenced through personal character and leadership. Full agreement with MVCC's mission, vision, values, bylaws, and statement of faith. Active participation in the life of Mission Viejo Christian Church. Demonstrate calling to Christian education and spiritual leadership. Education & Experience Master's degree in educational leadership or a related field preferred. Valid teaching or administrative credential. Minimum 3-5 years of educational leadership experience. Experience within a Christian school environment preferred.
