Candidates must possess the background and diverse skills needed to assist the Principal with the supervision and the direction of the instructional program, the evaluation of personnel, support and supervision of students, the management of the school, and such other duties delegated by the Principal to facilitate the educational development of all students and promote a healthy and safe school environment. Major Duties and Responsibilities: School Climate & Safety Engages with students and families proactively to establish strong positive relationships Assists the School Climate Coordinator and oversees timely response and investigation of student disciplinary concerns. Is knowledgeable about and is able to implement restorative practices within the school community. Supervises common spaces such as hallways and the cafeteria during the morning, passing times, and during lunch waves as needed. Serve on committees as assigned by the principal Budget Participates in the development of the school budget within the guidelines provided by the Superintendent, as requested by the Principal. Communication Promotes a positive, caring climate with high expectations for learning. Helps to develop and maintain effective communications with students, staff, and families. Assists in maintaining direct relations with parents/caregivers and the community. Facilitates procedures for the reporting of pupil progress to parents. Plans and develops means of maintaining close communication with other schools. Curriculum Contributes to the development and evaluation of curriculum programs. Considers the needs of students and the community in developing the school program. Assists in the ongoing evaluation of the curriculum and its effect on the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of students. Shares responsibility for the general growth, development, safety, and health of the students in the school. Facilities Participates in the development of school improvement plans with the principal on the maintenance, repair, and improvement of building, grounds, and equipment. Promotes health and safety standards. Organization Aids in the preparation of the school schedule. Reviews the organization and recommends to the Principal changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Professional Growth Encourages faculty participation in staff development programs of personal and professional growth. Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment. Assists the Principal in identifying, planning, and implementing staff development programs. Evaluation Evaluates both certified and non-certified staff at Bungay Elementary School in compliances with the district evaluation program. Assist the principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff. Qualifications CT Certification for Intermediate Administration and Supervision, Endorsement 092. Previous experience in an administrative or supervisory position preferred. Strong curriculum background with in-depth knowledge of best practices, assessment techniques, and technology integration. Effective organizational and communication skills.
