Responsive recruiter General Summary

Responsible to assist in the practice of occupational therapy under the supervision of an occupational therapist. Typically, therapy will be provided in the childs natural environment.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Exhibit a positive professional attitude with supervisors, co-workers, children, and community.

2. Maintain confidentiality of all children and employee related information.

3. Exercise sound judgment and provide appropriate care in the performance of duties.

4. Assist in delivering the treatment plan after the child has been evaluated and the treatment plan has been developed by the occupational therapist and approved by the IFSP/IEP team.

5. Will track the need for reassessment, report changes in status that might warrant reassessment or referral, and may administer the reassessment under the supervision of the supervising occupational therapist.

6. Immediately discontinue any specific treatment procedure which appears harmful to the child and immediately notify the supervising occupational therapist.

7. Not discharge the child from a treatment program without supervision from the supervising occupational therapist.

8. Maintain appropriate certification.

9. Exhibit positive language and behavior skills as a model for children and families.

10. Adheres to the Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics.

11. Serve under the general supervision of a Licensed/Registered Occupational Therapist following the supervision guidelines set forth by the Executive Council of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy Examiners (ECPTOTE).

12. Provides and updates schedule as changes occur and ensures proper planning as per the IFSP.

13. Other duties as assigned.

Work Experience

  • Two (2) years pediatric experience
  • Three (3) or more years pediatric experience (Preferred)
Education/Certifications/Licensure
  • Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program
  • Successful completion of the National Certification exam
  • State of Texas Occupational Therapy Assistant License
  • The candidate must have a valid driver's license, a safe driving record and auto insurance required
  • The candidate must pass a pre-employment physical
Skills
  • Bilingual ability (English/Spanish) is required
  • Proficiency in computer and Microsoft Office programs
Physical Requirements

If a preliminary offer of employment is extended, a physical will be required before the offer can be accepted.
Light to medium physical duties include standing, walking, reaching, bending, hearing, talking, kneeling, floor sitting, pulling, reaching, grasping, pushing, stooping, standing, sitting, climbing, occasional running, and the ability to move with agility to carry out IFSP services. Must be able to lift up to thirty-five (35) pounds. Must be able to work in variable environments related to temperature, humidity, degrees of cleanliness/order, and around other varied environmental factors and elements. Non-physical Requirements Performing multiple tasks simultaneously, the ability to meet multiple deadlines, judgment decisions, emergencies, irregular schedules, and working as a Team Member with other employees and client teams.
