Description/Notes:
The Senior Director of Special Education provides strategic leadership and operational
oversight for the districts special education program. The role ensures compliance with
federal and state regulations to ensure high-quality services to students with disabilities. The
Senior Director manages budget development and oversight, directs staffing allocation and
recruitment, manages TEA grants, and improves processes and systems to increase program
efficiency and effectiveness. The Senior Director also leads cross-departmental coordination
to align special education initiatives with district goals and support improved student
outcomes.
Qualifications:
Education / Certification:
1. Masters Degree in Education Administration.
2. Valid Teaching Certificate.
3. Valid Mid-Management / Principal Certificate.
Special Knowledge / Skills:
1. Knowledge of federal and state program regulations.
2. Ability to implement and update policy and procedures.
3. Ability to analyze and interpret data.
4. Ability to manage budget and personnel.
5. Ability to coordinate district instructional functions.
6. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Experience / Other Requirements:
1. Five years of experience in the administration / coordination of special
education/programs.
2. Personal cell phone is required to handle District related business, including after
hours, or when away from the office on District business.
