JOB DESCRIPTION
GRADES K-4 PRINICPAL
QUALIFICATIONS
A. Master's Degree with training in administration and supervision
B. Illinois State Certification with Supervisory or Administrative endorsements
C. Five years of successful teaching at the elementary level, preferred
D. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to exert strong ethical leadership in the field of elementary instruction and inspire superior performance in members of the staff
Ability to make firm decisions in areas of responsibility and delegate responsibility to members of the staff
Knowledge of sound elementary educational programs
Ability to create, develop, and implement new educational plans and programs at the elementary school level
Ability and disposition to work effectively and cooperatively with pupils, parents, and school personnel
Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing
E. Successful building administration experience, preferred

JOB GOAL: Provide school-wide leadership
Position Description
The Principal's time shall include but not be limited to curriculum and staff development through formal and informal activities, establishing clear lines of communication regarding school goals, accomplishments, practices, and policies with parents and teachers. The K-4 grade school principal will be responsible to lead the staff and community in the development of a high quality, high achieving K-4 grade school.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Overall administration of the school
- The development and implementation of the master schedule
- Evaluates all certified staff, educational support personnel and extracurricular staff
- Monitors the safety and well being of students and staff:
a. Student transportation
b. Parking lot
c. Fire and disaster drills
d. Other school activities
Supervises lunch program in cooperation with the lead cook
Assists in the inventory of instructional materials and school property
Works directly with the superintendent and other district administrators to develop/improve instruction, curriculum and staff development
Plans, maintains and monitors school budgets
Maintains necessary records and completes reports
Supervises the physical plant and makes recommendations regarding immediate and long term building needs
Performs other job related duties established by the Superintendent
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 210 Day Contract. Salary established by the Board of Education on a yearly basis.
EVALUATIONS: Performance of this employee will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent.
Salary determined by experience. Minimum of $90,000.
