Academic Center Coach20262027 Job Description$24,000-30,000 Annual SalaryPosition OverviewThe Academic Center Coach works primarily within the Academic Center to provide targeted academic, executive functioning, and social-emotional support for students. This role focuses on delivering individualized and small-group interventions that foster student independence, organization, self-advocacy, and engagement in learning.The Academic Center Coach collaborates closely with the Academic Center Teacher and reports directly to the Director of Academic Services. The position also partners with faculty, student support personnel, and families to ensure students receive coordinated and responsive support.ResponsibilitiesAcademic SupportProvide individualized (1:1) and small-group academic coaching across subject areas including humanities, literature, science, and languageSupport students with assignment completion, organization, study skills, and academic planningDesign and implement targeted academic interventions under the guidance of the Academic Center Teacher and Director of Academic ServicesHelp students develop executive functioning skills, including:time managementprioritizationtask initiationplanningorganizationself-monitoringstudy strategiesFacilitate and/or assist with morning executive functioning group sessionsMonitor student understanding of assignments and provide scaffolding and instructional support as appropriateMonitor student progress, grades, and engagementSupport implementation of accommodations and intervention plans outlined in IEPs and 504 PlansAssist students in accessing accommodations and supports effectivelyFacilitate student check-ins and help students navigate appropriate academic and student support resourcesFoster student independence, self-advocacy, and confidence as learnersCollaboration and CommunicationCollaborate closely with the Academic Center Teacher to plan, coordinate, and deliver student support servicesMaintain regular and proactive communication with the Director of Academic Services and Academic Center Teacher regarding student progress, concerns, interventions, and support needsParticipate in student support meetings, including IEP and 504 meetings, as appropriateMaintain consistent and professional communication with teachers, parents/caregivers, and members of the Academic and Student Support Team through email, documentation, and meetingsDocument student progress and contribute to ongoing support planningBehavioral and Social-Emotional SupportSupport students in returning to learning and re-engaging in the classroom environment as quickly and successfully as possibleReinforce positive behavioral expectations and promote productive learning behaviorsSupport students with emotional regulation, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution strategiesHelp students build resilience, coping strategies, and school engagementAssist in restorative conversations when conflicts ariseGuide students toward additional supports within the school community when appropriate, including the Dean of Students, Academic Dean, School Counselor, Director of Academic Services, or Head of School
