Admission Counselor
Title: Admission Counselor

Job Purpose:
Serves as the recruiting representative for the University at high schools and community colleges. Describes academic programs, student life, and admission requirements to prospective students and high school counselors. Responsible for geographic territories, and therefore is responsible for all high schools and students in the area.
Essential Functions:
30% - Prospective Student Review
Independently read and evaluate student applications using independent judgment to effectively analyze applications for admission.
Interview candidates for admission, providing information about the University and admission procedures.
Maintain relationships with secondary school officials, prospective students and their parents/guardians.
Responsible for extensive email and phone follow-up.
30% - Travel and Special Events
Represent the University at high school visits, college fairs and other events, advising prospective students and high school and college personnel regarding admission policies and procedures.
Utilize independent judgment as agents of the University, representing the mission of the University at all times.
Involved in on and off campus special events such as open houses, college fairs, admitted student weekends, summer send-offs.
Travel approximately three (3) months of each year, but the times are concentrated in September, October, November, March and April, with small trips in the outlying months.
When traveling, visit high schools and/or community colleges, attend evening fairs and college programs, interview prospective students, host receptions for accepted students.
30% - Project Management
Manage, at minimum, one project in support of recruitment and admission activities.
Create a project timeline, manages a budget when necessary, executes the project, monitors progress, and analyzes outcomes, recommending changes for the future
10% - Additional Duties as Assigned by the Department
Educational Requirement:
Bachelor's Degree
Years of Related Experience Requirement:
1 year
In lieu of the educational qualifications, candidates may qualify with equivalent professional experience at a ratio of one year of experience for each year of required education.
Certifications and/or Licensures:
None
Skills & Abilities:
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Demonstrated professionalism when communicating and collaborating with diverse groups of people
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduate of Gonzaga University highly preferred
Familiarity with Gonzaga University in terms of its programs, goals, mission, etc.
Experience working with first-generation college bound students and students from traditionally under-represented groups.
Master's Degree in related field

Physical & On-Campus Requirements:
In-Office Presence - Ability to work on-site in typical office setting and participate in in-person meetings with colleagues: 5 days/week
Standing/Sitting - Ability to remain in a stationary position for a prolonged period: Often (50%-75% of time)
Walking - Ability to move about on foot to accomplish tasks: Rarely (1%-49% of time)
Lifting/Carrying - Ability to move or transport objects up to a specified weight (e.g., 50 pounds): Rarely (1%-49% of time)

The budgeted salary range that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position: $47,072
Pay Range:
Minimum Salary (Annualized 12 months and 40 hours/week): 43360
Midpoint Salary (Annualized 12 months and 40 hours/week): 54200
Maximum Salary (Annualized 12 months and 40 hours/week): 65040
Minimum Salary (Non-Exempt): 20.85
Midpoint Salary (Non-Exempt): 26.06
Maximum Salary (Non-Exempt): 31.27
