Anticipated Probationary Literacy Interventionist for the 2026-2027 School Year Start Date: September 1, 2026
Qualifications:
General Requirements:
Our ideal candidate should have:
NYS UPK-6 or 7-12 Certification in any subject area (i.e. Reading, Special Education, ELA).
Experience with RTI/MTSS systems and using data driven instruction.
Effective communication skills to engage students, parents, colleagues, administration and the school community as a whole.
Collaborative, flexible and innovative with intervention strategies related to literacy and varied forms of written and spoken communication.
An understanding of best instructional practices when providing targeted, small group instruction at the middle school level.
Working knowledge of the writing process and how to provide instruction to students in the implementation of the writing process.
An understanding of the written and reading comprehension tasks associated with the state assessments at grades 5-8 and a framework for providing students with direct instruction in how to successfully meet the demands outlined in these assessments.
Experience teaching all genres and an understanding of how to provide students with the skills necessary to analyze, think critically and write in response to both fiction and nonfiction texts.
An understanding of how to teach reading comprehension writing in response to what you have read to students at the middle school level.
Salary and Benefits:
According to the SCTA Contract - at least Schedule 1, Step 1 or $57,677.00 depending on experience and transcripts. Competitive benefits.
