Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:1. Bachelors degree required2. License to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts MA School Nurse Certification required3. Professional experience in nursing or health care4. Red Cross cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificate 5. Demonstrated interest in children and their physical and mental health6. Knowledge of medications and diseases of childhood and adolescence7. Ability to work as a member of a medical team of nurses and health assistants8. Computer skills for data entry programs9. Physical ability to handle the responsibilities associated with this position.10. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Committee or its designee find appropriate and acceptable.REPORTS TO:Building Principal(s) for school level responsibilities Director of Pupil Services for system wide responsibilitiesJOB MISSION:To monitor and assist in caring for the physical and mental health of children. To distribute medications as ordered by physicians. To assist school nurses with ongoing postural, vision and hearing screenings. To work with school nurses to implement health programs in the elementary schools.
