QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's Degree in Educational Administration, Leadership or a related field.

  2. Valid Indiana Principal License or eligibility for licensure as a principal in Indiana.

  3. Minimum of five years' experience in the field of public education, including at least 3 years in a leadership role (e.g., assistant principal, instructional coach).

  4. Experience in middle school education is preferred.

  5. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  6. Proven ability to lead and motivate staff, students, and the school community.

  7. Experience with data-driven decision making and using assessment data to guide instruction and school improvement.

  8. Knowledge of current educational research and best practices.

  9. Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills.

JOB GOAL:

To provide strong leadership in fostering an educational environment that ensures the academic, social and emotional growth of all students. The middle school principal will work to build a positive school culture, support instructional excellence, and engage with staff, students and the community to deliver a high-quality educational experience aligned with district and state standards.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides visionary leadership to the staff, students, and community to promote a culture of high expectations, equity, and excellence.

  2. Supervises, evaluates, and provides professional development for teachers, staff, and administrators to improve instructional practices.

  3. Creates and implements school-wide strategies for student achievement including interventions and enrichment programs.

  4. Oversees the implementation of the district's curriculum and instructional strategies to ensure academic growth and alignment with state standards.

  5. Collaborates with teachers to assess student progress, identify needs, and develop appropriate instructional adjustments.

  6. Promotes innovative teaching methods and the integration of technology in the classroom.

  7. Fosters a safe, supportive, and inclusive school environment where all students can thrive academically and socially.

  8. Addresses student discipline and behavioral issues promptly using restorative practices and positive behavior supports and interventions.

  9. Communicates with parents and guardians regarding student progress, school activities, and important initiatives.

  10. Promotes family engagement through events, workshops and regular communication.

  11. Oversees daily school operations, ensuring effective management of facilities, scheduling, resources, and student services.

  12. Develops and manages the school's budget ensuring funds are allocated efficiently to support student learning and school improvement initiatives.

  13. Ensures compliance with all district policies, state regulations, and federal guidelines.

  14. Analyzes school performance data and works with staff to develop school improvement plans, setting goals for academic and behavioral growth.

  15. Leads efforts in fostering continuous improvement, guiding the school through accreditation and state evaluations.

  16. Stays current with educational trends, best practices and leadership strategies through ongoing professional development.

  17. Participates in district leadership teams, committees and initiatives to help shape district-wide policy and strategies.

  18. Performs other duties as assigned.
