FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2026-2027
TITLE: Assistant Principal, High School
CLASSIFICATION: Certified Position
STATUS: Exempt (Salaried)/220 Days
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
Interviews to be held the week of: June 8, 2026
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidates must hold a valid Building Level Administrator License;
- have a minimum of 5 years successful teaching experience at the high school level (grades 9-12) highly desired;
- have demonstrated superior ability to work with peers, supervisory staff, parents, and students;
- projects a positive image to staff and the public;
- should comprehend needs of high school age students;
- have the ability to make the school facility and environment an attractive, pleasant and productive place for working and learning;
- have an understanding of the total high school curriculum; and
- have demonstrated leadership qualities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the Principal in the overall administration of the school.
- Assists in the development of schedules of classes and extracurricular activities.
- Plans, implements and oversees the preparation of student registration and scheduling.
- Assists in safety inspections and safety drill practice activities.
- Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, and works with the attendance clerk and counselors for follow-up actions.
- Acts as Principal designee during expulsion process.
- Serves with parents, faculty and student groups as requested in advancing educational and related activities and objectives.
- Performs such record-keeping functions as the Principal may direct.
- Supervises and evaluates teachers and departments as assigned by the Principal.
- Assists in the development, determination of appropriateness, and monitoring of the instructional program.
- Assists in the in-service orientation and training of teachers, with special responsibility for staff administrative procedures and instructions.
- Serves as principal designee during Special Education case conference/ACR.
- Supervises the end-of-year student recognition activities and graduation.
- Plans, implements, and oversees orientation and support programs for incoming and current students.
- Conducts professional development with teachers and support staff.
- Assists in the development of and prepares student handbook.
- Serves in leadership role in continuous school improvement activities;
- Plans, implements, and oversees the preparation for and administration of all student testing, i.e., ILEARN and SAT.
- Takes part in case conferences involving special education and 504 students.
- Assists in building and maintaining the master schedule and making teacher assignments.
- Participants in the interviews of all potential teachers and support personnel.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Administration or his/her designee.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
Job Requirements
- At least 5 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Master degree preferred.
