Multicultural Affairs. This role directs student engagement and global perspective initiatives while fostering collaboration across Student Life, Academic Affairs, Athletics, Campus Ministry, and Enrollment functions to support the holistic development of Newman University students.
As a member of the President's Cabinet, the Dean of Students aligns Student Life initiatives with the mission and Catholic identity of Newman University, ensuring student programs reflect the institution's commitment to academic excellence, service, inclusion, and global awareness. The Dean oversees orientation, leadership development, student conduct, and judicial affairs while supporting student transition, retention, and success from admission through graduation.
What You'll Do
Provide leadership, supervision, and evaluation for Student Life staff, cultivating a collaborative, student-centered team culture
Direct and assess Student Activities, Multicultural Engagement, and Residence Life programming that promotes student development, engagement, and global perspectives
Oversee student conduct, behavioral intervention, and Title IX compliance, ensuring fair, ethical, and compliant processes
Lead major campus initiatives including orientation, leadership training, retention efforts, and commencement participation
Serve as a key advisor and collaborator with Student Government, faculty, Academic Affairs, Athletics, and campus partners
Manage Student Affairs budgets and ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements
Champion inclusive engagement and serve as a visible, ethical role model for students
Contribute to strategic planning and align Student Life initiatives with university-wide priorities
What We're Looking For
Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, or a related field, or comparable professional experience
3-5 years of progressive administrative experience, preferably supervising and mentoring young adults
Demonstrated leadership in student development and staff supervision
Ability to manage complex initiatives across multiple departments and stakeholders
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
Capacity to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing confidential information with discretion
Commitment to fostering inclusive, mission-centered student engagement
