Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree required. Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population. Experience in academic advising, student transfer/articulation, and career exploration is preferred. Computer literacy skills are essential for program record-keeping and federal reporting. Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. occasionally, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Salary Starting range $47,400 - 58,100 Typical Duties and Responsibilities 1. Active engagement in marketing student support programs or TRiO to enrolled students. Identifies eligible student applicants, engages applicants in the intake application process and makes enrollment recommendation within a timely fashion 2. Provides academic and transfer guidance to program scholars. Monitors scholar's performance, class load, and progress toward graduation and transfer. Addresses transition, academic learning, personal and financial issues as needed to promote scholar retention and success. Provides referral to external counseling services and subsequent follow-up for students in crisis. Mentors and empowers program scholars towards independence, self-reliance, self-advocacy and life-long learning skills. 3. Informs scholar about alternatives, limitations and consequences of academic decisions in regards to financial aid and transfer. 4. Identify and utilize a variety of resources to assist students with career decision making and selection of a major. Develops and implements strengths and career exploration activities as needed. 5. Maintains appropriate documentation of services to scholars. 6. Develops materials and non-credit workshops/handouts/processes for scholars as needed. Develops and teaches special workshops as directed. 7. Advocate for the needs of low-income, first generation and disabled students when serving on internal work groups or committees to foster an institutional climate that is supportive of these student populations. 8. Serves as a team member in evaluating and developing the services and programming of the Student Support Services Program. 9. Is committed to providing and expecting high aspirations and high expectations that meets or exceeds the expectations of internal and external customers. 10. Other duties as assigned.
