This role focuses on student belonging, restorative practices, attendance, and the day-to-day student experience Qualifications Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate or ability to obtain appropriate approval. Demonstrated experience working with adolescents in educational settings. Strong understanding of restorative practices, trauma-informed approaches, and positive behavior systems. Excellent communication, relationship building, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to maintain composure, fairness, and professionalism in high stress situations. Prior experience in student management, counseling, or leadership roles. Experience with MTSS, PBIS, and data-driven decision-making. Knowledge of culturally responsive practices and commitment to equity. Familiarity with Sault Schools' community context, including partnerships with tribal nations. Essential Responsibilities Student Behavior Support & Intervention Lead implementation of positive behavior frameworks, including PBIS, restorative practices, and trauma-informed approaches. Coordinate daily student management, including behavior interventions, restorative conversations, and follow-up plans. Maintain consistent, equitable application of the Student Handbook and Code of Conduct. *Support teachers with classroom management strategies and student behavior plans. Support conflict resolution and mediation among students. Coordinate re-entry meetings following suspensions or extended absences. Actively monitor hallways, common areas, and transition times to ensure student safety, accountability, and compliance with school expectations. Collect, analyze, and communicate student attendance, tardy, and behavioral data to guide intervention planning and continuous improvement efforts. Collaborate with staff to develop and maintain consistent procedures related to student supervision, hallway expectations, and accountability systems. Develop and oversee systems to reduce student tardiness through proactive interventions, accountability measures, and staff collaboration. Oversee student movement systems, including digital hall pass platforms, and monitor data to address misuse, avoidance behaviors, and accountability concerns. Attendance, Engagement & Student Support Oversee attendance systems, including early intervention, parent communication, and truancy prevention. Track chronic absenteeism and implement targeted supports. Collaborate with counselors, social workers, and community partners to remove barriers to attendance. Serve on the building MTSS and student support teams. Participate in building-level crisis response, safety drills, and emergency protocols. Help identify and respond to student social, emotional, and behavioral needs through proactive interventions and supports. School Climate & Culture Monitor school climate data (referrals, attendance, tardies, hotspots) and recommend responsive strategies. Work closely with the principal to uphold a positive school culture aligned with district values. Contribute to staff professional learning related to culture, climate, and student support. Promote a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment for all students. Family & Community Partnerships Communicate with families regarding behavior, attendance, and student needs in a timely, empathetic, and solutions-oriented manner. Build strong relationships with tribal partners, community agencies, and youth-serving organizations. Support family engagement events and proactive outreach. Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and support staff to ensure coordinated student services. School Operations & Supervision Assist with supervision of arrival, dismissal, lunch, passing time, and school events. Support implementation of schoolwide expectations and procedures throughout the building. Assist administrators with maintaining a safe, orderly, and student-centered school environment. Work Schedule & Reports To: Full-time, school-year position with additional days as assigned. Reports directly to the Building Principal.
