Student Support Services Director

Terms of Employment: Regular full-time 12-month position with current university benefit package. Position based on the NWOSU Alva Campus. Position is affiliated with the Student Support Services grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The successful candidate will provide organization and leadership for the Student Support Services program and will report directly to the Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. Occasional business-related travel required.

Duties and Responsibilities: Establish and provide effective project management and ensure full compliance with Student Support Services and U.S. Department of Education policies. Coordinate the development of SSS initiatives to meet the SSS project objectives: persistence, good academic standing, and graduation. Remain current regarding SSS and U.S. Department of Education rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Authorize all SSS expenditures and monitor budget pursuant to federal, state and college policies. Provide leadership to communicate with college and community about SSS objectives and progress. Lead selection of SSS personnel. Develop, implement and facilitate the comprehensive SSS evaluation plan. Ensure institutionalization of improvements into ongoing operation of the college. Coordinate development and submission of annual performance reports. Attend U.S. Department of Education SSS Director meetings.

Qualifications: Experience in grants management preferred. Budget management experience, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and skills in use of technology are necessary. Experience in staff supervision required. Must have a commitment to student support and motivating students to succeed. Experience with federal TRIO programs, academic support programs, or similar type programs required. A doctoral degree in education, counseling, public administration or related field is preferred; master's degree required.
