Provides specialized reading instruction and support to improve student literacy and access to the educational program. Assesses student reading performance and implements targeted, research-based interventions. Collaborates with teachers and school staff to support instructional practices and promote student achievement in accordance with division standards and practices. Satisfied the requirements for the reading specialist assessment specified by the Virginia Board of Education; and at least three years of successful classroom teaching experience in which the teaching of reading was an important responsibility.
