Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant / Paraprofessional

The Lowell Graded School is seeking an innovative and energetic Speech Language Pathology Assistant / Paraprofessional to join their team. Having a strong physical stamina, positive energetic attitude and a willingness and experience to work with students is a must. This is a school session position.SLPA specific responsibilities include:Direct speech/language intervention with students K thru Grade 8, working with individuals and small groups. Consultation with SLP and teachers.Researching, designing visual schedules, data keeping, clerical work and documentation, preparing materials, analyzing classroom observation/intervention data. Using technology in language therapy.Providing support for hearing devices including hearing aids, sound field systems and personal FM systemsDesigning home programs.Paraprofessional responsibilities include:Providing academic and behavior support in a one-on-one or small group setting.SLPA qualifications include:Completion of Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLP-A) Program and/or Bachelors Degree in Speech Language Pathology strongly preferred. Familiarity with board maker and other related software a plus.Para qualifications include:*Minimum of 48 college credits or sucessfully passing the Para Pro or Master Teacher assessment test.Benefits and wages as per support staff collective agreement.
