Position Summary

The Principal of Madison Middle School serves as the instructional leader and chief administrator of the school. The principal is responsible for the organization, administration, supervision, and continuous improvement of all school programs and operations. The successful candidate will foster a positive learning environment that promotes academic excellence, student achievement, staff development, and meaningful community engagement.

Qualifications

  • Valid West Virginia Professional Administrative Certificate.
  • Eligible for, or currently holds, a West Virginia Principal Certificate.
  • Administrative Experience preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and effective organizational skills.
  • Experience with student discipline procedures and positive behavior support systems.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with students, staff, parents, and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze data and implement school improvement initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Principal will:

  • Provide leadership for all educational programs and school operations.
  • Supervise and evaluate instructional programs and staff performance.
  • Use student achievement data to improve curriculum, instruction, and school effectiveness.
  • Develop and maintain the school master schedule.
  • Assign and supervise personnel and school activities.
  • Monitor co-curricular and extracurricular programs.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly, and positive learning environment.
  • Enforce student discipline in accordance with state law, county policy, and due process requirements.
  • Coordinate services and programs for students, including special education and student support services.
  • Lead faculty, school improvement, curriculum, and collaborative teams.
  • Manage school budgets, inventories, equipment, and financial records.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of required state and county reports.
  • Foster positive relationships with families, community organizations, and stakeholders.
  • Oversee building maintenance and safety procedures.
  • Support staff recruitment, selection, orientation, and retention efforts.
  • Attend required meetings, professional development activities, and trainings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build a positive school culture focused on student success.
  • Knowledge of West Virginia Board of Education policies and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to engage families and community partners in supporting student achievement.

Terms of Employment

  • 225-Day Contract
  • Salary based on certification, experience, and applicable county supplement in accordance with the Boone County Schools salary schedule.
  • Evaluation conducted in accordance with West Virginia Board of Education policy and county procedures.
