Candidates must be actively enrolled or have completed Master's in School Counseling, Master's in School Social Work, Master's in School Psych ology. Candidates must also pursue a CDE special services license. Position: K-8 School Social Worker, School Counselor or School Psychologist THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION - Funding is secured for FY26/27, 27/28, 28/29 The School Social Worker or counselor supports students, staff, and community members across all grades (PreK-8). All staff are required to participate in coaching cycles, professional development, and act as collaborative members of a small school staff. The NRCCS team offers robust and expansive programming for a school our size. Therefore, we work as a school team to provide appropriate and adequate support to both students and families. This requires staff members to be flexible and able to balance academic, SEL, and physical needs of K-8 students in a respectful and professional manner. Primary Responsibilities: The following are examples of primary duties assigned to the School Social Worker or School Counselor. Other related primary duties and responsibilities may be assigned. Consultation Provide recommendations to administration and staff on how to better meet social, emotional and academic needs of students. Provide recommendations to administration and staff on how to help families support students in the aforementioned goal. Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administration to find effective solutions for meeting learning and behavior needs. Participate in MTSS and consult meetings with teaching teams. Provide information regarding community services available to students and families; make appropriate referrals as needed. Be well-informed about community resources. Create a resource bank of information regarding relevant community services. Intervention Collaborate with the administration and teaching teams to provide effective interventions for students. Provide counseling services to students to help resolve and manage problems that interfere with school performance. Meet with families to help address their needs and the needs of their children. Act as the point of contact/ liaison with social service and or community agencies providing services to students. Act as the point of contact/liaison for families with high needs including students experiencing homelessness. Report any pertinent information to the proper authorities in cases of child endangerment, neglect or abuse. Respond to crisis situations in tandem with colleagues and community personnel. Maintain accurate records of all psychological/ counseling/ social services rendered to students and teacher requests for consultation. Lead and/or participate in the MTSS process as mutually agreed upon with the school administration. Prevention Support and understand the learning models that our school implements. Identify and/or develop programs for children at risk of failing at school, based on needs assessments. Conduct mental health screenings, suicide risk assessments, threat assessment, and safety planning when needed. Respond to crises and collaborate closely with staff and families to ensure student safety. Implement and deliver programs and strategies to improve school climate, based on consultation, collaboration and observation at all grade levels. Provide in-service training to faculty and parents as needed. Collaborate with school staff and community agencies to provide services directed at improving psychological and physical health of students.. Work with administrative staff to monitor attendance as a marker of potential risk. Communicate with NRCCS community members about role and opportunities. Participating in the Outdoor Education and Wellness trips which require staff to lead groups of students on outdoor trips such as biking, hiking, snowshoeing and/or skiing. You will be asked to lead a group where you are comfortable with the ability level. Personal and Professional Development: Participating fully in professional development with other NRCCS teachers and Head of Schools. Setting and actively pursuing professional as well as personal goals. Continuing knowledge and implementation of current research based educational trends. An incorrect decision made by this position could impact the district legally causing financial condition of NRCCS to be affected. Errors made in decision-making could potentially result in substantial cost to the District or damage the credibility of the District. Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond professionally to questions from groups of parents, community members, commissions, colleagues and the NRCCS Board of Education. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, discounts, commissions, proportions, percentage, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, and geometry Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form, and deal with several abstract concrete variables. Ability to analyze and use data to supervise the delivery of instruction and the school improvement process. Technology Skills: Proficient use of technology which includes: basic operations and concepts, word processing, spreadsheets, internet usage, critical evaluation of information, data analysis, email, integration of technology. Other Skills And Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in education. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to copy, coordinate, instruct, evaluate and negotiate. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to discipline students consistent with district procedures.
