Step into a pivotal role supporting high school students as they navigate their academic and career futures. A contract position is available for a dedicated College and Career Counselor, serving one school within a vibrant educational community near Tijeras, NM. This full-time opportunity runs Monday through Thursday for 30 hours per week, with the academic year beginning in early August and concluding the following June.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hold or be eligible for a New Mexico school counselor license (provisional, administrative, or applicable secondary/elementary licensure will be considered)
- Experience supporting high school students, especially in college and career readiness
- Ability to work with a diverse student population, including those with various disabilities
- Strong interpersonal and organizational abilities
- Adept at collaborating with educators, students, and families to ensure holistic student development
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide students in developing college and career plans, assess aptitudes/interests, and support application processes
- Conduct individual and group counseling focused on academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and transition planning
- Facilitate workshops and presentations on college readiness, financial aid, and vocational opportunities
- Maintain detailed and confidential records per district and state guidelines
- Engage closely with teachers, administrators, and parents to champion student success
