This position is a full-time, district-wide, benefits-eligible position which includes responsibilities for special education program coordination, PreK-4. The Coordinator will report to the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services and collaborate closely with the Director for Prek-4 Special Education. We are seeking candidates who are invested in the achievement, equity, and access of all learners in and beyond the classroom. Candidates with diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, religious, class, and/or gender background and experiences are strongly encouraged to apply.The Special Education Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the Director of PreK-Elementary Special Education by assisting with the coordination and oversight of special education programming across five elementary schools and preschool as assigned. It focuses on strengthening instructional practices, supporting compliance with special education regulations, and ensuring that students with disabilities receive high-quality, individualized services that promote effective progress. Successful candidates will have a passion for and interest in instructional leadership, including familiarity with programming models, best instructional practices, and curriculum development, and have demonstrated experience in using data to align instruction and respond to student needs.Coordinator Responsibilities:Works under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services and collaboratively with the Director of PreK-Elementary Special Education to provide leadership and coordination of Special Education programming and servicesSupervise and evaluate Special Education teaching staff as assignedServe as a member of the District Leadership Team, including attendance at monthly meetingsSupport the development, review, and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring they align with student needs, state standards, and compliance requirements.Monitor IEP implementation across schools to ensure fidelity to service delivery, accommodations, and modifications in collaboration with Team Chairs.Coach and collaborate with general and special education teams to implement specially designed instruction and evidence-based practices that provide meaningful access to the general education curriculum. Support decision making processes and provide guidance on Tiered interventions.Assist teams in making instructional and behavioral decisions grounded in data and student strengths.Coordinate and support the scheduling and facilitation of special education-related meetings, including placement meetings, transition planning, student services roundtables, and team consultations.Assist in planning and delivering professional development for educators and service providers focused on special education practices, differentiated instruction, inclusive strategies, and regulatory compliance. Find more information about Shrewsbury Public Schools at Preferred Qualifications:Masters degree in Special Education or a related field required.Current DESE certification in Special Education as an AdministratorMinimum of three years of successful experience in special education, preferably at the elementary level.Strong knowledge of IDEA, state special education regulations, and instructional practices that support diverse learners.Demonstrated skill in coaching, consultation, and facilitation of team-based problem-solving.Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively across multiple school teams and with families.Proficiency with technology used for communication, documentation, and data analysis.Demonstrate the core values of Shrewsbury Public Schools Work Year/Compensation: This position is governed by the Shrewsbury Education Association Unit A contract; per that contract, Curriculum Coordinators will work the 184 day teacher year plus 10 days to be scheduled with the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services. Salary is placement on the teachers scale, plus a stipend based on years of experience in a supervisory role. The position includes a full benefits package including health care insurance, sick and personal time, and tuition reimbursement. The position is eligible for membership in Unit A of the Shrewsbury Education Association (same as teachers).Salary for this position will be based on the SEA contract.
