Job Title: Dean of Students
Reports To: Building Principal
Contracted Days: 190
Job Summary: The Dean of Students provides administrative assistance in areas the Principal assigns, including student supervision, specifically in attendance, discipline, guidance, instructional leadership improvement, and various student body activities. In collaboration with the building Principal, they provide student supervision and interventions to students experiencing problems in discipline and attendance in a comprehensive school setting. They act as a resource to teachers in their instructional practice, especially concerning issues of discipline, relationships with students, classroom management, and school culture.
Essential Duties :
Monitoring behavioral pull-out and in-school suspensions.
Assists the principal in maintaining standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere and effective participation in all activities.
Plans and implements programs designed to develop student character and discipline in accordance with District and school standards.
Assists the principal in the coordination of campus security, facilities and grounds.
Confers with and advises parents on matters of student’s behavior and the implementation of effective programs related to student discipline.
Creates and monitors student intervention plans.
Responsible for mitigating student attendance problems
Actively provides follow-up student discipline in regard to teacher and campus referrals.
Meets and confers with parents and school personnel in developing alternative solutions to student attendance and discipline problems and concerns.
Assists in the supervision of students before, during and after the school day.
Serves as a resource to site and district personnel, parents and members of the school community.
Maintains a liaison with social service and youth service agencies in pursuing referral follow-ups.
Provides leadership in curriculum revision processes as assigned.
Evaluate or assist in the performance of assigned certificated and classified staff.
Communicates with parents, District Office, the public and other schools and public agencies including the police juvenile authorities and county agencies as necessary.
Assists with the planning and implementing of school programs such as student attendance/discipline, curriculum development, transportation, athletics, student government and others as assigned.
Provides leadership to and coordinates a variety of student programs and student activities.
Attends and provides supervision at school activities occurring during late afternoon and evening hours.
Coordinates the planning, development and revision of students and teacher handbooks, manuals, orientation materials and forms.

Qualifications:
Master’s degree; three years of teaching experience preferred
Valid Building Administrator license at the appropriate level
