Overview:
The Assistant Superintendent Teaching & Learning is responsible for the vision, planning, implementation, operation, reliability and accountability of core curricula, assessment and instructional academic programs and for all Human Resource functions for all assigned certified/licensed employees to create a culture of accountability that achieves the best academic and developmental outcomes for each student.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Superintendent, in cooperation with other executive level administrators, in effectively coordinating and continuously improving academics, programs and operations.
2. Collaborate with and assist the Superintendent, in cooperation with other executive level administrators, in effectively coordinating the district's educational programs.
3. Prepare agenda items for the Board of Education meetings and complete the follow-up process for such items after Board action.
4. Attend Board meetings and prepare presentations and reports for the Board as requested by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
5. Provide leadership in the development, implementation and administration of continuous improvement goals, benchmarks, and measures.
6. Formulate proposals for revision and development of Board policies and administrative guidelines.
7. Co-Chair the district Local Professional Development Committee and administers the district's online LPDC system.
8. Provide an organized, consistent, useful body of research information for professionals in the schools as it relates to personnel issues.
9. Supervise assigned personnel, conducts annual performance appraisals, and makes recommendations for appropriate employment action.
10. Develop comprehensive staffing plans for recruitment and retention.
11. Make recommendations in cooperation with appropriate administrators for all personnel employment, assignments, transfers, dismissals, and promotions.
12. Serve as the lead district administrator for all evaluation systems for licensed employees.
13. Coordinate the planning and implementation of a district staff development program.
14. Supervise the maintenance of up-to-date and accurate personnel records for employees as assigned.
15. Direct the establishment of and evaluation of professional development experiences for administrators and certified/licensed personnel.
16. Responsible for the District resident educator and mentoring program, with the purpose of providing a program of positive support to promote professional growth to beginning teachers and to teachers new to the District.
17. Oversee the administration of the provisions of applicable negotiated agreements or contracts.
18. Work with Association representatives in maintaining proactive and collaborative communication.
19. Administer a system to review legal issues in counsel with the Superintendent, school attorneys or other appropriate persons on legal issues as they relate to the Human Resources Department.
20. Provide oversight for state, federal, and grant funded programs and fulfills any compliance reporting requirements.
21. Lead or facilitate standing and ad hoc study committees upon request.
22. Provide leadership for the assessment of current instructional practices and curriculum and makes recommendations for improvement in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade programs.
23. Review, approve and monitor all program-related research activities.
24. Contribute to public information documents as requested.
25. Analyze performance data to improve programs and academic achievement.
26. Routinely and regularly attend school, community, and business functions to promote a positive and engaged school climate.
27. Actively engage and serve as a positive role model for students, parents/guardians, community, and philanthropic or business partners.
28. Serve as the district compliance officer for Title IX and for any harassment complaints, and conduct investigations as needed.
29. Serve as the hearing officer for student suspension appeal hearings as assigned.
30. Provide support to the Superintendent with one-time, long-term, or ongoing special projects as needed.
31. Review legislation and legal interpretations affecting curricula, assessment, instruction, and school programs.
32. Serve as district-level contact for parent concerns related to academics.
33. Provide leadership in the monitoring, implementation and administration of campus-wide safety and security plans and programs, including annual review, revision, and/or submission as required by state officials.
34. Collaborate with staff to ensure a consistent safe and secure learning environment.
35. Oversee development of student and parent communications related to academics and programming.
36. Serve as a compliance officer for reports of bullying and completes bullying reports as required by state officials.
37. Maintain positive communication with all site and department administrators.
38. Conduct classroom walkthroughs and school site visitations to determine quality of services provided.
39. Develop, coordinate, and supervise new programs and projects as authorized by the Superintendent, the Treasurer/CFO or the Board of Education.
40. Assist in the coordination of and evaluation of professional development experiences for non-teaching/exempt staff and identifies and provides professional development and support for supervisors.
41. Assist in developing the annual budget and long-range financial planning.
42. Administer academic related contracts with outside agencies.
43. Develop and sustain relationships with city leaders and other local governmental agencies.
44. Collaborate with other administrators and staff to coordinate and supervise nursing and mental health services and well-being programs as assigned.
45. Oversee, organize, and facilitate internal and external student well-being initiatives.
46. Serve as the district well-being liaison to the community.
47. Assist with the coordination of staff wellness committee planning, and programming.
48. Serve as the district-wide lead of The R Factor (implementation, planning, programming, coordination, professional development, etc).
49. Analyze data for continuous improvement.
50. Perform all other tasks/duties and assume such responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.

Key Qualifications:
1. Master's degree or higher.
2. Valid Ohio License/Certificate as a Superintendent or ability and willingness to obtain.
3. Ten years or more successful experience in education with at least five years administrative experience at the building or District level in the following areas:

4. Such alternatives to the above as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent.

Terms, Compensation and Benefits:
The successful candidate will be offered a two-year two-hundred sixty-day administrative contract excluding annual vacation and personal leave. Salary range of $150,000-$165,000 plus annual performance incentive compensation eligibility for achieving measurable outcomes; placement commensurate with proven leadership experience.
