JOB TITLE: Reading Interventionist

REPORTS TO: Principal(s)

ANNUAL CALENDAR DAYS: 9 months, 187 days

POSITION SUMMARY

OCS is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Reading Interventionist to provide targeted literacy support to students through evidence-based instructional practices. This position requires expertise in the science of reading and experience providing intensive, targeted intervention utilizing an approved dyslexia-specific intervention program (from the current or previous ALSDE-approved lists) as a classroom teacher, special education teacher, English Learner, or reading intervention teacher.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in education.

Must hold appropriate Alabama Professional Educator Certificate.

7-10 years of teaching experience, preferred.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide intensive, systematic reading intervention to small groups of students.

Implement evidence-based instructional strategies grounded in the science of reading.

Differentiate instruction based on individual student needs and assessment data.

Monitor student progress through ongoing formative assessments.

Administer diagnostic reading assessments to identify specific areas of need.

Analyze assessment data to inform instructional planning and intervention strategies.

Maintain accurate records of student progress and intervention effectiveness.

Collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention with core instruction.

Work closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and administrators.

Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress.

Participate in professional learning communities and data team meetings.

Contribute to school-wide literacy improvement initiatives.

Other duties as assigned.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND SALARY

Employment is for 9 months, 187 days. Salary to be determined, commensurate with the salary matrix, credentials, and experience.
