vice-principal

primary function:

Assists the principal in administering and supervising the basic school functions and activities such as student discipline, classroom instruction services, evaluation, public relations, and site management. Participates in site and district leadership activities. RESPONSIBLE TO: Site Principal

supervises the following personnel:

  • Noon Duty Supervisors
  • Instructional Aides
  • Custodians
  • School Community Coordinator
  • Office staff and certificated staff

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

A. Basic Program

  • Counsels students regarding behavioral and educational problems; observes and evaluates student behavior and progress; assists teachers with major discipline problems.
  • Confers with administrators, teachers, parents and other concerned agencies and individuals regarding students and activities; acts as advisor to and coordinates activities of parent advisory groups.
  • Establishes operating schedules and procedures necessary for the operation of the school as directed by principal.
  • Coordinates district and state testing programs with district administrators and teaching staff.
  • Supervises and evaluates assigned classified personnel
  • Assists in inservice training of certificated and classified employees.

minimum qualifications:

  • The appropriate teaching, administrative, or special credential as required by the State of California.
  • Valid California Administrative Services Credential authorizing K-6 service
  • CLAD and or CLAD equivalent
  • A minimum of three years as a resource teacher or five years classroom experience
  • Valid California Driver's License

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience providing professional development
  • Bilingual/Biliterate English/Spanish
  • Experience working with at risk students
  • Experience working with parents

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to see for the purpose of reading correspondence, documents and other printed matter.
  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels in person and/or on the telephone.
  • Mental acuity to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and discussions.
  • Dexterity, sufficient to write and use telephone.
  • Performs occasional lifting not to exceed 25 lbs.

California Administrative Services Credential CLAD or BCLAD Certificate 3 years teaching experience Bilingual in English/Spanish Preferred
