We are seeking an experienced and motivated Grant Writer/Consultant to join our team and play a crucial role in securing funding for various educational initiatives and projects. The Grant Writer is responsible for researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to foundations, corporations, and government entities. The Grant Writer will collaborate closely with the Foundation's leadership team, educators, and community partners to identify funding opportunities that align with the organization's goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Research and Identify Funding Opportunities:
- Conduct thorough research to identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies.
- Stay informed about current trends, grant guidelines, and funding priorities in the education sector.
- Write compelling, timely, and persuasive grant proposals that effectively communicate the organization's mission, goals, and specific project needs.
- Collaborate with program managers, educators, and other stakeholders to gather relevant information and ensure accurate representation of projects in proposals.
- Tailor proposals to meet the specific requirements and criteria of different funding sources.
- Attend bidder conferences and grant application training sessions hosted by funders.
- Manage and coordinate the grant application process, ensuring timely submission of proposals and required documentation.
- Keep detailed records of all grant applications, correspondence, budget requirements, and outcomes.
- Track and report on grant-funded initiatives, ensuring compliance with grant agreements.
- Cultivate positive relationships with grant-making organizations, donors, and community partners.
- Communicate with funders and potential funders in a timely manner.
- Attend relevant networking events, conferences, and workshops to stay connected with potential funding sources and best practices in grant writing.
- Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Proven experience in grant writing and securing funding for educational initiatives.
- Demonstrates support for the Beliefs, Vision, Mission, and Goals of the L-P Foundation and District 120.
- Meets deadlines for the submission of assigned reports and other requested information and records.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Accepts and utilizes constructive suggestions from supervisors.
- Fosters and maintains positive and effective working relationships.
- Communicates with appropriate professionals.
- Familiarity with the education sector and understanding of high school programs and needs.
- Demonstrate adaptability to changing priorities, guidelines, and funding opportunities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management software.
$36,500 per year, with flexible working hours up to 20 hours per week.
Consultant-based contract.
