Position Type: Speech/ Language/Speech/ Language Pathologist Date Posted: 5/21/2025 Location: Tri-County Administrative Offices 2025-2026 SY TRI-COUNTY SPECIAL EDUCATION JOINT AGREEMENT JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Speech Language Pathologist QUALIFICATIONS: PEL School Service Personnel Endorsed in Speech-Language Pathology (PreK-21) Active and Valid IDFPR Speech-Language Pathologist Professional License REPORTS TO: Assigned Technical Assistant Supervisor for designated programs Lead SLP for Technical Assistance PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: In accordance with Scope of Practice in Speech-Language Pathology, ASHA 2001 and Guidelines for the Roles and Responsibilities of the School Based SLP, ASHA 1999. 1. Conduct comprehensive speech-language evaluations with recommendations for amounts and type of intervention needed. 2. Provision of speech-language therapy as indicated, to populations including but not limited to: Developmental Delay, Cognitive Disability, Multiple Disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Emotional Disability, for students age 3-21 years. 3. Provide itinerant speech-language therapy for children not enrolled in center-based programs as necessary. 4. Participation in educational staffings or team meetings as appropriate. 5. Responsible for developing speech-language stimulation programs for use in the classroom and/or home. 6. Responsible for training for classroom teachers, program aides and parents in the implementation of speech-language intervention. 7. Responsible for establishing and maintaining accurate and current documentation for all students receiving speech-language services (diagnostic reports, progress reports, therapy and billing logs) 8. Participate in preschool developmental screenings and all other child-find activities. 9. Other professional duties as required or assigned. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Integration of Technology into Practice a. Demonstrate continual growth in technology and skills to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies. b. Plan and design effective learning environments and experiences supported by available software and technology to promote communication development. c. Implement methods and strategies for applying technology to maximize student learning in the area of communication (Augmentative and Alternative Communication systems/devices). d. Apply technology to facilitate a variety of effective assessment and evaluation strategies, including evidence-based practice. e. Use technology to enhance their productivity and professional practices including word processing, database, spreadsheet, telecommunications and print/graphic utilities, class attendance(Lighthouse), Individual Education Plan (IEP) programs. 2. Obtain required continuing education units/hours for the purpose of : ISBE certification/IDPR licensure renewal and to ensure growth and development of current best practices in the field of speech-language pathology. Pay and Benefits in accordance to the collective bargaining agreement.
