Position Summary:
The SEED School of Los Angeles County is seeking a results-driven and mission-aligned
Special Education Coordinator to support the implementation and compliance of SEED LA’s
special education program. Reporting to the Director of Student Support Services, the Special
Education Coordinator will provide leadership for special education services, ensure compliance
with federal and state regulations, support IEP development and implementation, provide
technical assistance to school teams, and coordinate services with families, staff, and external
providers.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership and Compliance
Develop and implement school-based policies and procedures for special education
services.
Ensure compliance with IDEA, CDE, LACOE, and SELPA regulations and timelines.
Serve as IEP administrative designee and support IEP teams in determining eligibility,
placement, and service delivery.
Maintain accurate records including CALPADS and SEIS entries, service logs, and
Medi-Cal billing documentation.
Technical Assistance and Team Support
Provide coaching and consultation to special education staff on curriculum, behavioral
supports, and instructional strategies.
Lead case management for complex student needs, including those requiring related
services or specialized placements.
Collaborate with staff and community-based providers to develop individualized student
support plans.
Support general education teachers with accommodations, modifications, and inclusive
practices.
Guide IEP teams on transition planning and independent evaluations.
Assessment and Student Support
Conduct assessments when appropriate and provide expertise on assessment tools and
alternative assessments.
Observe and provide consultation related to student behavior, wellness, and discipline.
Support English Learner (EL) identification and assessment within the special education
context.
Professional Development and Systems Innovation
Assist in the design and facilitation of special education-related professional learning.
Serve as a resource in identifying trends, evaluating service delivery, and ensuring
effective interventions.
Coordinate services for low-incidence disabilities and ensure all students are served in
the least restrictive environment.
Qualifications:

5+ years of experience working with students with exceptional needs.
Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and consultation experience in a school setting.
Strong knowledge of SEIS, CALPADS, IEP compliance, and IDEA mandates.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
Bilingual candidates are highly desirable.
Ability to connect with people from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
(including but not limited to homeless and LGBTQ youth)
Experience working with diverse student populations in an urban setting
Possess an entrepreneurial spirit to be able to create and implement routines and rituals
to ensure student achievement
Certifications and Degrees:
Bachelor’s Degree with a valid California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) or Special
Education Teaching Credential required.
Administrative Services Credential or eligibility (preferred).
Employee Benefits:
Compensation will be commensurate with candidate experience and expertise. The salary
range for this opportunity is $91,520 - $100,606.
