Position: Speech Language Pathologist

Days: 180 School Days ( Monday - Friday)

Effective Date: 8/27/2025

Contract: Continuing

Purpose Statement:

The Speech/Language Pathologist shall be responsible for providing comprehensive speech, language, and hearing services for students on a referral and remedial basis. Provide assessments, direct therapy, and consultation, including the development of IEPs and participating as a member of the MDT.

Duties Responsibilities:

Organize and conduct a remedial program for hearing and communication-disordered students with a range of ages and handicapping conditions.

Formulate with teachers the short and long-term goals to meet individual student needs in the classroom to be written on the student's IEP.

Consult with teachers regarding students referred, scheduling, and follow-up procedures.

Maintain current data on students receiving therapy.

Provide current speech and language evaluations for students.

Provide staff and/or parents in-service consultation regarding implementation of current communication processes, and normal speech and language development.

Consult with physicians and other agencies of the community regarding referrals and mutual exchange of information. Utilize and consult with resource agencies within and outside the community for program facilitation.

Assist in curriculum evaluation as it relates to speech and language development and hearing conservation.

Continue updating professional qualifications with current research existing in the field to meet the needs of the population.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree in Speech and Language.

Washington ESA or demonstrated eligibility for ESA

CCC or eligibility, preferred

Pediatric/school experience preferred

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Skills: Keyboarding and use of computers for report writing and medical documentation

Knowledge: Experience with a wide range of speech pathology assessment and treatment protocols, especially with pediatric patients. Knowledge of the WAC governing the provision of all aspects of special education, and familiarity with the forms required and their timely execution to be in compliance with special education rules.

Abilities: Able to work both collaboratively on teams and independently in the day-to-day execution of the duties and tasks of a school speech pathologist. Must be able to work quickly and efficiently with attention to detail and timelines. Able to explain evaluation and treatment to parents and teachers in clear, concise language with sensitivity, and be able to meet the challenge of mediating diverse ideas, opinions, and needs between various stakeholders.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT and Salary:

As outlined by and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of Deer Park Education Association (DPEA) and the Policies and Procedures of Deer Park School District. The 2024-2025 base salary range for certificated staff in the Deer Park School District is between $54,273 to $106,990 per school year. Placement is defined within the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and is generally based upon a combination of Education and Experience. Other forms of compensation may be available to the hired applicant in addition to their established salary range or wage scale as defined within the current collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
