Occupational Therapist

The occupational therapist will conduct evaluations and provide direct services to students with mild/moderate disabilities, including but not limited students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, in a public school setting.

Responsibilities Include:

Conducts thorough assessments of fine motor, visual motor, and sensory processing skills utilizing standardized evaluations and informal assessments to establish eligibility for services and inform goals and service delivery Utilizes data to develop attainable, strengths-based SMART goals for improving functional classroom and daily living skills Provides direct services utilizing research-based treatment methods to improve students' fine motor, visual motor, and daily living skills as outlined in the students' Individualized Education Program (IEP) Records data and reports progress at least as often as report cards are provided Attends and participates in IEP meetings Collaborates with other related service providers to conduct co-treatment sessions when deemed appropriate Consults with classroom teachers and paraprofessionals to implement fine motor, daily living, and sensory strategies throughout the school day Participates in professional development that is specific to the field and meets requirements to maintain licensure

Preferred Skills:

Experience with behavior management/de-escalation strategies

Minimum Requirements:

Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited graduate program Valid Occupational Therapist License through the Board of Allied Health Professions, Commonwealth of Massachusetts Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) preferred
