Through a rigorous and innovative academic program in math, science, and technology, in combination with the liberal arts, we prepare our diverse student population with the experiences, skills, and values for purposeful contributions in higher education and STEM-related fields.POSITION OVERVIEW:The Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) will provide high-quality, data-driven speech and language services to support students academic, social, and emotional development. As part of a multidisciplinary team, the SLP will screen, evaluate, and implement interventions for students with a range of communication disorders. This role is rooted in collaboration, reflection, and a deep commitment to equity and inclusion.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Conduct screenings, formal and informal evaluations, and diagnostic assessments for students with suspected communication disorders (articulation, voice, fluency, and language)Use a variety of appropriate tools to evaluate communication skills; write clear, objective reportsMaintain thorough, confidential, and timely documentation including IEPs, evaluation reports, progress notes, Medicaid billing logs, and student portfoliosInterpret assessment results and share findings with families and educational staffEnsure compliance with FERPA, IDEA, Medicaid, and district/state guidelinesDevelop clear, behaviorally stated goals and objectives based on evaluative dataImplement IEPs for students with speech/language impairments and contribute to IEPs where speech/language is a related serviceRegularly monitor and report student progress using data-informed practicesSchedule and deliver services according to individual educational needsParticipate actively in eligibility determination meetings, IEP meetings, and problem-solving teamsProvide individual and small-group therapy to address expressive, receptive, and pragmatic language needsFacilitate social skills groups and/or programs to promote peer interaction and communicationDeliver consultative services to staff and families; model interventions and provide classroom strategiesSupport implementation of assistive technology for communication needs and maintain related equipmentWork collaboratively with general and special education teams to ensure speech/language goals are supported across settingsParticipate in school-based student support and problem-solving teams to identify at-risk students and design early interventionsSupport ESL/bilingual students and contribute to culturally responsive practices, with ESL certification strongly preferredAttend professional development sessions, team meetings, and SLP-specific trainingsAssist in any other duties related to speech and language support as assigned by the Chief Academic Officer.REQUIRED SKILLS:Strong interpersonal and communication skills with adults and studentsHighly organized with effective time and case management skillsProficient in using web-based IEP systems and Medicaid documentation platformsEmotionally intelligent, resilient, and skilled in navigating feedback and conflictCulturally responsive, equity-driven, and committed to student empowermentDocumentation of a clear BCI.QUALIFICATIONS:Masters degree in Speech-Language PathologyValid Rhode Island Department of Health license as a Speech-Language PathologistRIDE certification in Speech-Language PathologyCertificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA, or in processAt least two years of school-based experience preferredESL Certification strongly preferredCOMPENSATION & BENEFITS: $46,811 - $88,236 per year based on number of years of experience and qualifications.
