Posting Description: Part-Time Speech/Language Pathologist
The Speech Language Pathologist plans and provides speech-language pathology services to students with speech, voice, or language disorders. The SLP performs screenings to identify possible speech and/or language difficulties, performs evaluations, and provides intervention or therapeutic services to eliminate or reduce problems or impairments that interfere with students ability to derive full benefit from the educational program. The SLP collaborates with teachers, MTSS teams, and IEP teams to report out their findings, share recommendations and strategies, and develop educational programming to support students communication needs. This is a salaried position at 50% time.
Reports to: Director of Learning Support
Terms of Employment: 10 month position
Salary: Commensurate with degree level and experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Licensed Speech Language Pathologist in the State of Delaware
Completion of Masters degree program in the area of Speech and Language Pathology
ASHA (American Speech/Language & Hearing Association) certified
Professional Expectations:
Execute the mission and vision of Newark Charter School through expectations, beliefs, instructional delivery, curricular fidelity, engagement in school community and through parental engagement.
Act ethically and professionally, as well as, promote a culture of excellence with high expectations for all students and community members.
Schedules individual and small group therapy sessions for those students identified as having speech and/or language problems.
Assists in the development of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and related documentation for speech and language services.
Maintain timely, accurate, adequate records of treatment and data of the IEP objectives for the students being served.
Participates in IEP meetings to assist in interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and goal setting for students with communication disorders or conditions and make recommendations for the level and frequency of services as related to the areas of need in the IEP
Collaborates with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom activities to improve communication skills of students and provide necessary carry-over of strategies and skills into all other areas of the students learning opportunities.
Prioritize parental engagement in the instructional program and as partners to ensure the academic success of all students.
Perform other duties as assigned.
