Occupational Therapist K-12 School Setting
Location: Independence, MODuration: 2025-2026 School Year (Contract)Hours: 12 hours per week (flexible days and times)
A district in Independence is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) to provide specialized services to students in grades K-12 during the 2025-2026 school year. This role involves working onsite within a school environment to support a diverse caseload of students with varying disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve a caseload of approximately 15 students, including those with intellectual disabilities, ADHD, traumatic brain injury (TBI), autism (including nonverbal students utilizing AAC devices), and vision or hearing impairments
- Implement therapeutic interventions prioritizing play-based approaches, though clinicians employing clinical methods are also encouraged to apply
- Collaborate with educators, families, and support staff to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and provide appropriate OT services
- Monitor student progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to meet individual needs
Qualifications:
- Valid Occupational Therapy license in the state of Missouri
- Experience working with school-aged children across a range of disabilities
- Ability to provide flexible scheduling consistent with a 12-hour weekly commitment
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to student care
