ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:CMC is seeking an energetic and flexible Speech and Language Pathologist who is eager to work in our therapeutic day schools with a high needs population. This position is accountable for assuming the responsibility of providing a rigorous and individualized instructional experience through creativity, resourcefulness and sound judgment consistent with the rules and regulations of the Central Massachusetts Collaborative. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Plan, develop, and implement various speech and language treatments and experiences through creativity and resourcefulness that lends to the educational growth and development of targeted students.2. Design effective learning experiences and techniques while reviewing, correcting, and reinforcing instructional lessons for communication. This includes aspects of speech production, fluency, language, cognition, voice, resonance, and hearing to enhance the learning and retention process.3. Develop effective techniques for communication assessment and management of discipline and behavior reinforcement.4. Align instruction with student's IEP, academic level and MA Curriculum Frameworks.5. Assist students in building communication, social, and self-regulatory skills.6. Create a structured, therapeutic, safe environment for all students.7. Develop and implement behavior intervention plans for therapy groups and individual students.8. Address and handle students with behavioral issues.9. Prepare students and provide support for MCAS tests and MCAS alt.10. Assist students in all activities of daily living and communication.11. Able to exercise universal precautions and tolerate management of body fluids, if needed.12. Conduct assessments, write reports and participate in team process.13. Write and implement IEPs, progress reports, and goals as they pertain to speech and language.14. Collaborate with support service providers, clinicians, and other educators.15. Maintain data and all required documentation.16. Supervise SLPAs and para-professionals working with speech therapy students.17. Complete CPI/nonviolent crisis intervention training upon hire and maintain CPI/nonviolent crisis intervention certification.18. Demonstrate sound judgments and decisions aligned with school regulations and philosophy and promote a positive school climate that fosters high student expectations and employs appropriate strategies that address multiple learning styles for all students.19. Demonstrate good communication skills and the ability to deal with people in a professional manner in all situations.20. Able to reach, grasp and handle objects using upper extremities and Lift and carry objects and/or classroom equipment, up to 50 pounds.21. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by director.

Job Requirements
1. Appropriate state and DESE licensure. 2. Advanced educational preparation in the discipline or area of certification. 3. Experience in the discipline or area of certification.
