Physical Therapist (SY 25-26)

Providence Public Schools District (PPSD) seeks an exceptional PHYSICAL THERAPIST to provide direct physical therapy services to students enrolled in the Providence Schools accordance with IEPs and 504 plans and to complete evaluations as needed.

We serve approximately 22,000 students at 37 elementary, middle, and high schools. Approximately 55% of students come from homes where English is not the primary language spoken. Combined, our students and families speak 55 different languages and hail from 91 countries of origin.

EDUCATION TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.

• School based experience preferred.

License required by the RI Department of Health: Physical Therapist

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide direct physical therapy services to students consistent with IEP requirements
2. Provide consultation to classroom teachers and staff as needed and required by IEPs
3. Provide written reports on services provided and/or progress notes as required by the special education office
4. Willingness to work as an itinerant to cover all components of this assignment
5. Willingness to work with families on carry-over activities for the home setting and scheduling of therapy sessions
6. Willingness to complete home instruction for PT services
7. Documentation of services for Medicaid purposes
8. Scheduling of physical therapy evaluations
9. Completion of written physical therapy evaluations
10. Willingness to work as part of a therapy team
11. Any/all duties that may be assigned by the Director of Special Education
