Job Description


The Assistant Principal assists the principal in the instructional program and the administration,
management, and operation of the overall school program.

Certificated Position: 210 Days

Specific duties may include:

  • Administrative Support: Assist the Principal in the day-to-day operations of the school,
    including scheduling, managing student records, coordinating events, and overseeing school
    facilities.
  • Student Discipline: Implement and enforce school policies regarding student behavior and
    discipline, maintaining a fair and consistent approach while fostering a positive school
    culture.
  • Curriculum Development: Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement curriculum
    plans aligned with state standards and educational best practices, ensuring a rigorous and
    engaging learning experience for all students as well as effective academic intervention.
  • Teacher Evaluation and Support: Assist in the evaluation of teaching staff, providing
    feedback, support, and professional development opportunities to enhance instructional
    effectiveness.
  • Student Support Services: Coordinate support services for students with diverse learning
    needs, working closely with teachers, counselors, and parents to ensure that all students
    receive the assistance they need to succeed academically and socially.
  • Community Engagement: Foster positive relationships with parents, community members,
    and local organizations, promoting active involvement in school activities and initiatives.
  • Emergency Management: Assist in developing and implementing emergency procedures to
    ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors.
  • Professional Development: Stay current with developments in education policy,
    instructional strategies, and technology integration, participating in professional
    development opportunities to enhance job performance and effectiveness.
  • Adhere to the Charter's Policies, Procedures, and Code of Ethics
  • Additional related duties as assigned.

The Assistant Principal is able to:

  • Interpret and successfully apply a variety of federal and state laws, regulations, and
    guidelines as they relate to public education and administration
  • Interpret and successfully implement District policies, objectives, directives and educational
    philosophy
  • Communicate effectively and tactfully in both oral and written forms.
  • Motivate and support employees
  • Support students emotional, academic, and behavioral needs.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Education or related field preferred.
  • Administrative credential preferred; candidate must have a clear California teaching
    credential.
  • At least 5 years of successful teaching experience.
