Assistant Principal Jobs in Dayton, OH
An Assistant Principal, also known as a Vice Principal, is an integral part of a school's administration team. They fulfil a variety of roles that may include managing school activities, overseeing daily school operations, coordinating curriculum, supervising teachers and staff, monitoring student progress, and enforcing disciplinary rules. They also assist the Principal in more complex administrative tasks and act as the Principal in their absence. Some Assistant Principals may also have specific responsibilities such as Special Education or Discipline Coordinator.
Prior to becoming an Assistant Principal, individuals may hold positions such as Classroom Teacher, Department Head, or School Counselor. Importantly, they must have a strong educational background, often including a Master's Degree in Education Administration or a related field. An administrative certification is also usually required.
