Position Overview

The Technology Coordinator at the South Henry School Corporation is the lead in supporting the technology needs of students and staff. Under limited supervision, the individual performs professional, supervisory, and management duties and is responsible for the overall leadership and supervision of the technology program. Areas of supervision include the instructional technology program, all computer applications and hardware, the technology office, networking and technical support, communication installations, the wide and local area network, distance learning, and computer repair. The Technology Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, operation, monitoring, and evaluation of the technology program for the school system. This individual provides leadership in identifying hardware and software purchases, ensuring consistency within the school system instructional technology plan and state technology guidelines. The employee coordinates, and may deliver, staff development on technology competencies. The employee works collaboratively with the other members of the school system central office staff and school building staff to use technology and include technology applications as an integral part of the total instructional program.

Reports To

  • The individual reports directly to the Superintendent and other school administration for daily operations.
  • The individual reports directly to the Corporation Business Manager for budgeting, purchasing, and other financial matters.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

Program Operations:

  • Housed at Tri Jr. Sr. High School, but serves all students in grades PK-12
  • Provides leadership for short and long-range planning for all technology initiatives: vision, goals, program objectives/strategies/activities, infrastructure, staffing, training, evaluation, budgeting, and collaboration with others.
  • Works cooperatively with FiveStar Technology Solutions (provider of engineering and support services)
  • Completes preventative maintenance and troubleshoots technology systems including hardware and software
  • Performs basic physical repairs to devices
  • Can install, configure, and troubleshoot Windows systems, Mac OS, and iOS
  • Manages and maintains Google Workspace (Google Admin Console)
  • Manages and maintains Active Directory and Group Policy Maintenance
  • Maintains website filtering (For on-site devices as well as off-site devices)
  • Installs instructional technology equipment in classrooms
  • Manages inventory of equipment and software
  • Manages Apple services (Apple APN renewal, VPP token renewal, app licensing purchases, policy updates, Apple School Manager) for K-5 and staff devices
  • Supports students and staff in a digital learning environment
  • Prepares and ensures readiness for state and local testing
  • Sets up new users (Accounts, device, and provisioning training)

General Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • General knowledge of computers and related technologies as they apply to pre K12 education.
  • General knowledge of infrastructure requirements and components of networks and infrastructure.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of school system staff.
  • Ability to assist users and trainers with software and hardware direction, guidance, and vision-setting.
  • Ability to provide ongoing professional development and support for all district technology initiatives.
  • Ability to lead technology planning efforts including activities to develop, implement, and evaluate both system and school technology plans.
  • Ability to manage financial resources and stay within budget as approved by the Corporation Business Manager.
  • Well-organized and able to keep accurate records for device management
  • Ability to problem solve and find solutions to technology related problems that arise

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

  • Occasional prolonged and irregular hours
  • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Prolonged use of computer and repetitive hand motions
  • Occasionally work oncall and after hours for special events

Qualifications

  • Availability to work 12 months/year
  • Associates Degree or certification in a technology related field (ie Managed Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Management, or other equivalent disciplines)
  • Relevant K-12 school technology experience preferred
