Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification in Physical Education or Adaptive Physical Education
- Licensed or eligible as a Physical Therapist in the state
- Experience working with children who have diverse abilities or special needs
- Solid understanding of adaptive physical education principles, motor skills development, and inclusion strategies
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with teachers, families, and support staff
- Flexibility and creativity in modifying activities for students at different ability levels
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop individualized and small-group adaptive physical education plans based on each students abilities
- Collaborate with IEP teams to create and implement goals measurable in student progress
- Modify lessons, equipment, and activities to ensure full participation and safety
- Evaluate students physical abilities and adjust programming as necessary for continuous improvement
- Monitor and document progress, providing updates at regular intervals to educational teams and parents
- Foster an inclusive, encouraging, and safe classroom environment to motivate all learners
- Assist with professional development for school staff on adaptive and inclusive PE strategies
