Openings as of 4/28/2026 force display?True Openings as of 4/28/2026 High School Dean of Students JobID: 5939 Position Type: High School Licensed/ Dean of Students Date Posted: 4/27/2026 Location: Bentonville High School Date Available: 7/23/26 High School Dean of Students Reports to: Campus Administration Contract: 202 days Position Purpose The Dean of Students will work closely with the principal, school personnel, and students to build and maintain a positive, safe school climate. Note: The Dean of Students is not intended as a career position. Essential Functions Manage and enforce school behavioral expectations, including attendance classroom alignment with school-wide goals. Confer with students, parents, and teachers regarding student-related policies. Assist staff with the creation and alignment of classroom student behavioral expectations and classroom management plans. Serve as a resource to staff regarding student management issues. Create and coordinate education alternatives for students in need. Collaborate with staff, administrators, and parents through the response to intervention process. Assist in the planning, developing, and implementation of student behavior plans. Confer with students and administer appropriate consequences. Openly communicate with staff and parents/guardians regarding student behavior. Collaborate with the school counselor and personnel to create and maintain research-based behavioral interventions and trains faculty and staff in those interventions. Manage the documentation of student behavior through the student management system. Attend appropriate meetings regarding student growth and success (IEP and 504 case conferences, parent meetings, expulsion hearings, etc.). Assist in the maintenance of the crisis management plan and school safety requirements. Compile, analyze, and share student discipline data regularly, and use that data to make decisions. Additional Duties Performs other related tasks as assigned by the School Principal and other Central Office Administrators as designated by the Superintendent. Travel Requirements Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of positive behavioral interventions and support Knowledge of creating and implementing student behavior expectations Knowledge of conflict resolution strategies Knowledge of state policy and laws affecting the management of student behaviors Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community members Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with key stakeholders through a variety of methods Ability to provide leadership of behavior management and supervision Ability to facilitate the resolution of conflict Ability to plan, organize, and manage time and resources Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards Works in standard office and school building environments. Certification/License Valid Arkansas teaching licensure required Admin licensure or in process of earning admin licensure preferred Education Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field required Admin degree or in process of earning admin degree preferred Experience Teaching and/or leadership experience in a school setting demonstrating the use and implementation of successful student behavior management strategies.
