School Nurse

Description:

• To provide a safe and healthful environment for all students and school personnel.
• Communicate with students, parents, staff, and outside agencies concerning student health issues.
• Provide nursing assessment, intervention, and documentation for students.
• Administer medications and provide individual health instructions.
• Complete, process, and follow up on accident reports with students and staff.
• Provide appropriate health related resources and referrals.
• Communicate with parents regarding health related incidents.
• Provide written emergency medical plans and care plans for students when indicated.
• Maintain the individual cumulative health record for each student including immunizations and physical exams.
• Follow district policy relative to delinquent physicals and immunizations.
• Manage and monitor reports of communicable diseases.
• Coordinate building vision and hearing screenings as well as individual screenings upon request.
• Monitor health supplies and equipment for each Health Office.
• Complete mandated state health reports.

Qulifications:

1. Educator Licensure with a concentration in School Nursing; BA Degree
2. Current Illinois RN license
3. IDPH Vision and hearing certified preferred
4. Healthcare Provider CPR Certification; CPR Instructor preferred
5. AED Certified

Work Calendar: 188 days, 7.5 hrs/day.

• Nurse AA RN: $23.00 per hour
