Wasco Union Elementary School District Superintendent

The superintendent of the Wasco Union Elementary School District shall serve as the educational leader for the district. As chief administrator, the superintendent shall advise the Board of Trustees in developing district policies and shall be responsible for implementing local, state, and federal policies and regulations. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with staff, the Board, and the community to build a high-quality educational program for students served by the district.

Located in the heart of Central California, Wasco is a rural community with a strong agricultural economy. The community is located 24 miles northwest of Bakersfield, and a short, two-hour drive will take you to the ocean, the mountains, or the Los Angeles area. Wascos current population is approximately 27,000.

Founded in 1904, the Wasco Union Elementary School District is comprised of six school campuses: four elementary schools and two junior high schools. The district provides a comprehensive educational program to approximately 3,400 students. The elementary schools are neighborhood schools that encourage enhanced parent involvement and strong community partnerships.

Education:

• Appropriate Administrative credential
• Masters degree in administration/education from an accredited college or university; doctorate preferred.

• Principal and/or district-level administrative experience required.
• Superintendent experience desirable.
• Teaching experience required, preferably at the elementary level.
