Position Title:
In-House Alternative School Facilitator
Reports To:
Principal or Designee

Terms of Employment:
190 Days
General Summary
The In-House Alternative School Facilitator provides supervision, academic support, behavior intervention, mentoring, and accountability for students assigned to the school-based alternative learning program. The goal of the program is to provide students with a structured, supportive, and highly supervised educational setting that promotes improved behavior, attendance, academic progress, and successful transition back into the traditional school environment.
This position is designed to reduce out-of-school placements by providing students with an immediate, meaningful intervention while maintaining continuity of instruction and school support services.
Qualifications
Minimum Associate Degree (2-year degree) required
Bachelor's degree preferred
Teaching certification preferred but not required
Experience working with adolescents preferred
Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
Ability to motivate and mentor at-risk students
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with administrators, counselors, teachers, parents, and support staff
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the District may find appropriate and acceptable
Performance Responsibilities
Supervise and manage students assigned to the in-house alternative program
Establish a structured, positive, and accountability-driven classroom environment
Provide academic assistance and monitor student completion of coursework assigned by classroom teachers
Communicate regularly with teachers regarding student progress, assignments, attendance, and behavior
Maintain accurate records related to attendance, behavior, grades, and student progress
Conduct weekly reviews of student performance data to assist administration in determining continued placement or transition back to the traditional setting
Escort students to and from designated campus locations including lunch and afternoon dismissal areas
Enforce all district and school rules, expectations, and behavioral procedures consistently
Support intervention efforts designed to improve student decision-making, attendance, and academic performance
Build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and high expectations
Collaborate with counselors, administrators, special education staff, and other support personnel to meet student needs
Assist with monitoring students receiving special education services while support personnel provide required accommodations and services
Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure classroom environment at all times
Participate in required trainings, meetings, and professional development activities
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the principal or designee
Physical Requirements
Ability to supervise and monitor students throughout the school day
Ability to stand, walk, and move frequently throughout the workday
Ability to escort students safely throughout campus
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
Working Conditions
School-based alternative educational environment
Frequent interaction with students demonstrating behavioral and academic challenges
Requires flexibility, patience, consistency, and strong interpersonal skills
Evaluation
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
