Job Description
Hanson Elementary School is a vibrant early childhood learning community dedicated to fostering a love of discovery in our youngest learners. We specialize in the foundational years, ensuring every student from PreK through Grade 3 develops the social, emotional, and academic skills necessary for lifelong success.
The Assistant Principal serves as a key instructional leader and administrator, working directly with the Principal to oversee daily operations and cultivate a nurturing school culture.
Key Responsibilities
1. Instructional Leadership & Curriculum
Support the implementation of evidence-based literacy and numeracy programs (e.g., Science of Reading).
Conduct frequent classroom observations and provide actionable, "bite-sized" feedback to teachers.
Lead Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) focused on data-driven instruction and early childhood milestones.
2. Student Support & Culture
Manage student behavior using Restorative Practices and PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) tailored for young children.
Oversee the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) for both academics and behavior.
Foster a joyful, inclusive, and safe school environment where students feel a sense of belonging.
3. Family & Community Engagement
Act as a primary bridge between the school and families, ensuring clear and empathetic communication.
Organize and lead parent workshops on early childhood development and school transitions.
Address parent concerns with a solution-oriented and collaborative approach.
4. Administrative Operations
Assist in the scheduling of specials, duties, and intervention blocks.
Coordinate state and local testing and school-wide screenings (PreK-K).
Serve as the lead administrator in the absence of the Principal.
5. Required Qualifications
Education: Master's Degree in Educational Leadership, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
Certification: Valid State Administrative/Principal License.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience, specifically within the PreK-3 range.
Expertise: Deep knowledge of early literacy development, phonemic awareness, and the importance of play in learning.
