Position SummaryThe Assistant Principal supports school leadership in managing daily operations, student discipline, instructional improvement, and staff supervision. This position plays a key role in fostering a positive school culture, ensuring student safety, and supporting academic excellence. A Masters degree and BCBA certification is preferred for candidates interested in leading behavioral intervention initiatives and supporting students with intensive behavioral needs.
Primary Responsibilities Instructional Leadership- Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback to teachers
- Support curriculum implementation and instructional best practices
- Collaborate with teachers on data analysis and student achievement goals
- Mentor new or struggling teachers
- Enforce school discipline policies fairly and consistently
- Investigate student misconduct and conduct disciplinary conferences
- Develop and implement behavior intervention plans
- BCBA-specific : Design, oversee, and evaluate school-wide positive behavior support (PBIS) programs and evidence-based behavioral interventions
- BCBA-specific : Provide consultation on functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
- Supervise hallways, cafeteria, and other common areas
- Manage attendance and attendance-related issues
- Coordinate schedules and master calendar
- Oversee facilities and maintenance requests
- Supervise support staff (counselors, security, paraprofessionals)
- Conduct performance evaluations
- Provide professional development opportunities
- Address staff concerns and performance issues
- Collaborate with special education staff and counselors
- Participate in IEP meetings and 504 plan reviews
- Support students with disabilities and behavioral challenges
- BCBA-specific : Lead or consult on behavioral support for students with autism spectrum disorder and other conditions requiring intensive behavior intervention
- Communicate with parents regarding student progress and concerns
- Facilitate parent conferences and community events
- Build positive relationships with families and community partners
- Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field
- Valid state administrative/principal certification or eligibility
- Minimum 3 years of successful teaching experience
- Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Commitment to equity and inclusive practices
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification
- Experience with positive behavior support systems (PBIS)
- Experience with functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans
- Background in special education or behavioral support
- Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder
- Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral interventions
