We are seeking a Physical Therapist to support students mobility and access to learning. This role includes evaluating students, providing therapy services, and collaborating with staff and families as part of the IEP team. The ideal candidate is organized, compassionate, and committed to student success.
The city of Waterville is located on the banks of the Kennebec River and is easily accessible from two exits off I-95 as well as Route 201. Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations to determine eligibility for services
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized Physical Therapy goals in accordance with students Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), based on evaluations and student needs
- Provide direct and consultative physical therapy services to students in various school settings.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and families to support student success
- Recommend adaptive equipment and modifications to enhance student access and participation
- Monitor student progress and adjust therapy interventions as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, and compliant IEP paperwork
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal development and progress reporting
- Provide training and guidance to school staff on physical support strategies and safe mobility practices
- Ensure therapy spaces and equipment are safe, clean, and appropriate for student use
Qualifications
- State of Maine Physical Therapist license
- Experience working with children or in a school setting preferred
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
