Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and student-centered Reading Specialist to support literacy development for students across multiple grade levels. The ideal candidate will have expertise in reading intervention, literacy assessment, differentiated instruction, and evidence-based reading strategies. This role involves collaborating with teachers, administrators, and families to improve reading achievement and foster a love of reading.
Key Responsibilities
Provide targeted reading intervention for students who need additional literacy support.
Conduct literacy assessments and analyze student reading data.
Develop individualized reading improvement plans.
Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement effective literacy strategies.
Support small-group and one-on-one instruction.
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation.
Assist in selecting and implementing literacy curriculum and instructional materials.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
Participate in professional development and school improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education, Literacy, Reading, or related field.
Reading Specialist certification or endorsement preferred.
Valid teaching certification required.
Minimum of 2 years of classroom teaching or literacy intervention experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of phonics, fluency, comprehension, vocabulary development, and structured literacy practices.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience with intervention programs and progress monitoring tools.
Familiarity with MTSS/RTI frameworks.
Ability to support diverse learners, including English language learners and students with learning differences.
