Assistant Principal - Clymore Elementary School

Reports To: Principal

FLSA Status: Exempt

2026-2027 Salary Scales:

SUMMARY

Provides assistance to the elementary school principal in the operation of the total school program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks:

Formulates student personnel policies such as code of ethics.

Plans and supervises school student activity programs.

Gives individual and group guidance for personal problems, educational and vocational objectives, and social and recreational activities.

Talks with and disciplines students in cases of attendance and behavior problems.

Supervises students in attendance at assemblies and athletic events.

Walks about school building and property to monitor safety and security or directs and coordinates teacher supervision of areas such as halls and cafeteria.

Maintains records of student attendance.

Arranges for and oversees substitute teachers.

Works with administrators to coordinate and supervise student teachers program.

Organizes and administers in-service teacher training.

Serves as primary administrator in the absence or disability of the principal.

Assists the principal in the implementation, supervision and evaluation of the total school instructional program.

Coordinates the assignments of and assists with the supervision of student teachers, aides, and volunteers.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists the principal in the evaluation of instructional personnel as assigned by the principal.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Master's degree (M. Ed.) or equivalent, or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Hold the Postgraduate Professional Certificate with an endorsement as principal.

At least four years of successful, full-time experience as a teacher or supervisor at the secondary level.
