The Waterville Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Elementary Principal to lead a positive, inclusive, and high-achieving school community. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative instructional leader who is committed to supporting students, staff, and families while fostering academic excellence and a strong school culture.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Make recommendations concerning the selection of staff, promotion, and retention of teachers.
  • Supervise and evaluate teachers and support staff.
  • Supervise the implementation of curriculum and assessment.
  • Responsible for maintaining student records in accordance with applicable laws/regulations.
  • Responsible for coordination of activities related to the testing and placement of individual students, and when necessary, referring students with special needs to resources within the school system and beyond
  • Prepare the annual budget proposal for the school and administer execution of approved budget.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents/legal guardians.
  • Involve families with curriculum/learning strategies.
  • Responsible for creating an atmosphere of mutual respect that results in acceptable discipline and appropriate conduct within the school.
  • Responsible for completing local, state, and other reports.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Education from an accredited institution; Masters degree preferred.
  • State Certification as a Building Administrator or equivalent.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and families.
  • Professional, cooperative, and respectful of the beliefs, opinions, and confidentiality of others.
  • Relevant experience in teaching, administration, and organizational planning.
